South Africa Travel Guide: The world’s most romantic country

Home again

It was with a heavy heart that we returned to theCape Town Cape Town airport for our flight home. South Africa is a country of indescribable beauty, breathtaking nature, fascinating culture, and a food/wine scene to envy.

Some travel tips:
– Wi-fi is a struggle here. Even in hotels, airports, and restaurants, you will find yourself restricted to half an hour of wireless at best. Make sure you get a wi-fi package before leaving home, such as Wireless Traveler
– Try the local food. South African game, like warthog or ostrich, is fantastic. So is braai, the Afrikaans barbecue specialty, and boerewors, a traditional sausage
– The best way to really understand the local culture is to hire a private guide. Virtu has a fabulous roster who know how to bring their country to life for you
– South Africa has a reputation for being dangerous. In Cape Town, at least, you won’t need to fear for your safety as long as you use your common sense, don’t show off valuables, and take private drives or taxis at night
