Bold Brazil: From Rio to the Rainforest

Days 8-10: Salvador da Bahia

Accommodation for 3 nights: Pestana Convento do Carmo (with exclusive VirtuWorldTravel amenities)

Salvador3

Salvador is the historical heartland of Brazil. It was here where much of the slave population first arrived on South American soil, and the city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The colourful, Portuguese colonial buildings are iconic, and will come to life with an experienced guide. Stop for a private lesson in Capoeira, the local martial art invented by the slaves and made to look like a dance.

Spend a day exploring the coast. Head to Praia do Forte, a nearby fishing village . The town is charming, but be sure to schedule a visit to the TAMAR Project , the sea turtle conservation. Instead of watching from afar, Virtu will arrange a one-on-one experience with a staff member so you can learn to feed and care for the turtles. Take the afternoon to relax on the white sand beaches before returning to Salvador.
